Summary -

Busy week with sports practice resuming for my oldest son.  I haven't had to ferry him back and forth (thank goodness for one of the other moms), but I have attended one scrimmage game, one parent meeting and taken him to scouts one evening this week.  All while working a 40-hour week and cooking supper on occasion.  My husband has been a wonderful help this week when my energy was flagging.  He took oldest son to get his cleats.  This is momentous because my husband has nothing to do with sports.  He likes to hunt and fish and doesn't care for the rest.  He will watch our kids' games and cheer them on, but that's where his support begins and ends.  However we both had a sleepless night and he knew I needed a nap instead of running back into town to get cleats so he took our son and I took a nap. It was amazing.

Reading has been great. I'm enjoying setting up review books for the coming months and picking out other books to read.  I am starting to post on Instagram a little more, though that will take some time.  I love to look through Instagram though!

Summary -

Great reading week and I've spent time organizing and planning reviews for my blog.  Right now I'm in a good place to read books and schedule post and still have time for library reads and reads from my own tbr.  I feel good about blogging again and look forward to reconnecting to the blogging world!

This is my last true week of summer.  Our oldest starts high school soccer practice on Monday at 8am, so there went my lazy, get out of bed when I want and go to work when I want schedule.  Even if another Mom takes him, I'll have to get him up and motivated and get him something to eat.  Not sure if practice will stay at 8am, so we'll see.  I love my job and flexible hours and I am not looking forward to starting a routine again.  Oh well.

Summary -

Finally in the last few weeks I really feel like my reading mojo has come back.  I have enjoyed the series by Philippa Gregory and plan to continue with it.  I have been intrigued and sucked into several books I received from Netgalley.  And dare I think it, but I might actually start reviewing again. I've been visiting blogs again and enjoying that reading and look forward to being back in the blogging world after a long hiatus.

Summer is going quickly.  My kids have one last vacation with my parents for the summer next week and then my oldest starts soccer practice at the high school.  But I"m going to enjoy all the lazy boating days that I can until deer season starts and the weather cools!

Summary -

It's been hot here and that leads to me coming home in the afternoon, throwing some laundry in and curling up in a book until it's time to fix supper and the husband and I watch tv.  After that I read until I go to sleep. Some afternoons will find me in the hammock reading, but most have been inside lately.  My reading mojo has come back and that feels good. I loved finding my way back to Joseph Finder's great suspense reading Vanished.  I have immediately requested another one of his books from the library. I also have a great fascination with the Tudors.  We have been making our way through the Showtime series and it has re-awakened my fascination with this time period.  So I have several books coming from the library on this period and group of kings/queens.  I can't wait.  Probably by the time this publishes we will be almost done with the series.

Summary -

It's been another cold week for those of us in coastal NC.  We had snow and ice Tuesday and it finally melted Wednesday afternoon. The kids and I were out of school/work on Tuesday and Wednesday and they had a 2-hour delay on Thursday.  Then Thursday was my birthday and my family made it a great day. My youngest even gave me an amazon gift card he got for Christmas.  My oldest gave me some money (I didn't want them to do anything but at the same time it was very touching).  And my husband gave me some lovely clothes.  It was a good and crazy week!

Summary -

It's been a cold week for those of us in coastal NC.  No snow, just a few brief flurries that didn't stick but we woke up in the single digits Friday morning.  That's about 30 degrees below our normal lows and getting into the 20s just doesn't do it for this NC girl.  How long until Spring? Summary -

Spent most of Friday and Saturday reading.  Was seriously disappointed to find I didn't have the second book in the Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines.  Would have sworn I did.  No money at the moment to buy it either.  Then I read Hopeless only to find I didn' have the next book in that series either.  Thankfully I started back on the Wait for You series by J. Lynn and had books 1.5 & 2 so I felt good to go with that one.   What's next?  Who knows.  Hope everyone in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Summary -
This is for two weeks since I forgot to post last week.  Week one was an amazing reading week even with the whole day on Sunday spent crocheting.  This past week started slow with a lot of tv watching Monday night.  We are trying to finish up season 4 of The Walking Dead so we can watch the first two episodes of Season 5 and then start in with Season 5 next Sunday.  And then there is The Voice which can't be missed. But I finished up the week on a reading binge by diving ito Beautiful Oblivion and  Elite.  Now I'm on and roll and should finish my audio of Black Ice today and can't wait to get into Ashes to Ashes to see how that series turns out!

Summary -
Busy week, I was sick, my oldest son was sick, there were football games to attend.  We watched movies as a family all weekend and I started up crocheting again.  The husband an I also had a much-needed date night which was wonderful.  I still managed to finish quite a few books.  Most of them were early in the week while I was sick and before things went crazy.  But it was a great week except for the sickness.  Now if I only had Columbus Day off like my kids who are off having a great time playing with the grandparents (my parents) ...  Also looks like it's time to get some reviews done.

Summary -
The first week started off with a bang, but then things became busy again and my reading slacked off.  I am picking back up now.  I've also been listening to some health podcasts on my way to work instead of audiobooks.  Will get back to the audiobooks soon, just wanted a little break and podcasts are a great way to learn new things. I've been listening to Balanced Bites and I am loving the information they give out.

Summary -
Busy weekend out of town to attend a park opening in my great-uncle's name.  That was special and a wonderful dedication to a man who gave his life for his country in WWII.  I also got to spend quality time with my kids, watching a favorite stupid movie (Talledega Nights), watching a football game on tv (Clemson/Florida State, boo on the loss), going to favorite places to eat and even having pizza delivered (we live out in the country and always have to pick it up).  It was also wonderful to spend time with family.  The 6 hour drive allowed me to finish one of my audiobooks and start another using the one-headphone in method.  The audiobooks I had for review were not kid appropriate, but it was great because both kids needed to do their own reading for school (oldest just read Divergent and loved it) and I got to do my required reading :)  Oh and it appears I'm on a bit of a James Patterson kick.  I realized how behind I was and I am just enjoying.  I know a lot of people aren't crazy about him anymore, but I still love his books.  They entertain me and don't require much concentration which with trips, football, more football and general life is perfect right now.

Summary -
Not my best reading week, but I enjoyed finishing off the stories about Four from the Divergent series.  I also really enjoyed the audiobook of Flying.  I finished my steroids this week and felt a jump in energy and threw that energy back into working out, thus less reading time than when I was in my flare up.  A migraine on Thursday night led to reading Vogue (just needed something mindless yet enjoyable, but I learned Vogue is not mindless, but actually a really amazing magazine).  Hope to balance everything out this coming week with more reading, but the sewing bug is biting and also with at least two nights of practice to take Jacob to and I want to go to at least one night of Logan's, I see my reading continuing on a slow pace.  Oh well, at least I love  football and can use practice time to crochet, it's easier to look up and watch while crocheting (finishing up a pattern so it's a lot of repeat rows) than it is to read and look up.

My Amazon Unlimited expired over the weekend, and though I really liked it, I am already subscribed to Scribd and Next Issue so that's enough money spent on reading books and magazines each  month so I let that go. I think Scribd is a better service so I'm keeping it and I love to read magazines and Next Issue lets me read a variety and it suits my moods well.

Summary -
It's been a few weeks, but hey it's summer, my husband turned 40 and I am in the middle of one of my wonderful flare-ups.  Which is made even more fun by how great I was feeling about a week ago.  I could do anything anytime, and now I am just barely making it to work and home each day.  The boys were gone on vacation again last week so that helped.  Our youngest stayed with my Aunt and Uncle while our oldest went with my parents to see the Pittsburgh Pirates play the Miami Marlins.  This was extremely exciting for him because they are his favorite team and it was his first MLB game.  Don't worry, the youngest was invited too but he chose to stay behind and be spoiled by my aunt and uncle.  I know one day they played golf, went to the dollar tree, bought candy, shot pool in the basement and also went out to supper for french fries and a milkshake.  I want to be 9 again (they spoiled me the same way!)

Have you tried Amazon Unlimited Yet?  I already use Scribd so I don't think I'll keep it after the 30-day trial, but there are some great crafting books available and some interesting indie books as well as well-known ones, so I see the benefit.

Summary -

Lots of great books read during these two weeks.  Thankfully Arthur's main problem was loss of power over 24 hours, but we are blessed by family that loaned us a generator to power our fridge & freezer and also family that allowed us to stay at their house when our power wasn't back on Friday evening.  There was a bit of yard clean-up but with the four of us working first thing Friday when it was cool and breezy it was quick.

Craziest thing about the hurricane, being in the eye. It's not the first time for us, but night hurricanes are nerve-wracking and the wind was crazy so when it was so calm it was great.  But I would have loved peace and quiet especially since it was 11:30pm, but nope, people were running the roads, driving around.  Seriously, can't you just stay home??  Oh well.  I went to sleep shortly after the eye passed and I felt the risk of tornadoes was lower (they are always the worst on the backside of the storm).  I am thankful this storm is not as bad as it could have been!

Summary -

Awesome reading week capped off with two days out on the boat.  I love days with my toes in water and happily reading away.  Kids were also off to Myrtle Beach with my parents last week which led to a little extra time while husband was working or working on the boat where I could read in peace.  Though I have to admit it felt great to get them home on Friday.  Should be another great reading week, hoping for more boat days, but there is a tropical disturbance developing off Florida so we'll have to see how the weekend goes.

Summary -

Well I expected this to be a great reading week with the read-a-thon, but the truth is I got most of myr reading done early in the week and didn't do much  with the read-a-thon due to being at the ball field most of Saturday.  It was a great reading week and I have hopes to do well again this week in the midst of ball practice, museum night and filing my taxes :)

Summary -

A much calmer week since it rained most of the week - we only had one evening we had to do something with the kids.  Though because of the rain, I did have another flare-up, but thankfully it was only one missed day of work.  

I was hard at work on the reading this week.  I had to finish up judging for a RWA contest and I enjoyed all 4 of the short contemporaries I read.  It reminded me why I use to read various Harlequin imprints from time-to-time.  Wonderful stories that make for great escapism for a few hours.  So that is done and now it's time to play catch-up on my review titles again.

This week's weather looks mostly sunny so I expect it to be a busy week with practices and opening ceremonies on Saturday.  Hopefully they won't have any games that day so I can go the ceremonies and leave and get back to Dewey's 24-hour-read-a-thon that is taking place this weekend!  I can't wait.

Best of the week:  Tie between Dragon Lady by Gary Alexander and Horns by Joe Hill - two completely different books, but both were great!

Summary -

I thought last week was crazy - this one was even crazier - my reading was definitely down and my big news of the week - I'm wearing reading glasses.  I was having daily headaches and I thought about the amount I read, plus spending all day on the computer at work and then thought about my age (getting closer to 40) and decided to try them out.  Would you believe, no more headaches!

I promise there will be more reading this week, but I do need to do start our taxes finally and get ready for some other things in April as well, so I don't know what next weekend will bring.  This one brought a game for my youngest (they lost) and two games for my oldest (they won both) and a lot of fun for me at the ballfield.  It also brought a flare-up which has confined me pretty much to my corner chair today (Sunday).  Hopefully it will get under control and I will start off the week feeling well.

Best of the week:  Both books read this week were great in their own way - one for the romance and escapism the other for it's realism so I can't choose this week.
