2011 Challenge: 2011 Audio Book Challenge

Teresa at Teresa's Reading Corner is hosting the 2011 Audiobook Challenge. She writes:

The 2010 edition was hosted by Alaine of Queen of Happy Endings. When Alaine was looking for someone to take over for her, I happily volunteered. Choose your level of participation and add your name. Over the course of the year I'm going to try to put together some fun things. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know.

The levels will be the same as last year:

Curious: 3 Audio Books
Fascinated: 6 Audio Books
Addicted: 12 Audio Books
Obsessed: 20 Audio Books

For more information and to sign up, visit the post about the challenge.

I'm going to join this one at the Obsessed level again this year. I easily read 1-2 books per month while listening in the car on the way to and from work (after I drop the kids off and before I pick them up) and also from time-to-time at work.  So this should be a breeze and lots of fun.  I actually use audiobooks to catch up on some popular series, like the Tempe Brennan series by Kathy Reichs and the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich and I'm lucky that my library has most of these available to me.

I'll list my books here as I finish them with links to the reviews (I will be better about reviewing my audiobooks this year!)

  1. Deeper than the Dead by Tami Hoag
  2. Twelve Sharp by Janet Evanovich
  3. Lean Mean Thirteen by Janet Evanovich
  4. Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich
  5. Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers
  6. Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evaonvich
  7. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
  8. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
  9. Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts
  10. High Noon by Nora Roberts
  11. The Fifth Witness by Michael Connelly
  12. Secrets to the Grave by Tami Hoag
  13. Just Take My Heart by Mary Higgins Clark
  14. Backseat Saints by Joshlyn Jackson

2011 Challenge: Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge

January 1 - December 31, 2011
Jennifer of Reading With Tequila is hosting the Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge again in 2011.  She writes:
Book bloggers are my favorite source of book recommendations. More than any other source, they consistently introduce me to books and authors that impact my life. Therefore, I have created the Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge.

Click here to see the entire 2010 Book Blogger Recommendation List.

The Levels:
Level I - Read 5 books from the 2010 Book Blogger Recommendation List
Level II - Read 10 books
Level III - Read 15 books
Level IV - Read 20 books
Level V - Read 20+ books

The Rules:
  • Participants can join anytime throughout the challenge.
  • Create an intro post.
  • Chose your own books from the list. You can decide to read books only on the Top 25 list or from the entire recommendation list. You do not have to make a list of books before the challenge begins.
  • All forms of books acceptable (audiobooks, eBooks, etc.)
  • Rereads do not count towards the completion of the challenge. The challenge is about discovering books that are new to you.
  • You don't need a blog to participate.
  • Reviews, while always appreciated, are not mandatory.
To join, go to  Book Blogger Recommendation Challenge.

I'm going to join at Level III - read 15 books.  I have just glanced at the list, but it is full of books I want to read so this should be a breeze.  Come join in as well!

I'll list my books here linked to reviews as I finish them.

  1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J.K. Rowling
  2. The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffennegger

2011 Challenge: Cruisin' Thru the Cozies 2011

Yvonne at Socrates' Book Reviews is hosting the Crusin' Thru the Cozies Reading Challenge for 2011.  I just recently started reading more cozy mysteries so participating in this challenge will help me explore this genre more thoroughly.

Information about the challenge can be found at Socrates' Book Reviews.

I'm going to join at Level 2, Investigator which has me reading 7-12 books.  I think I can fit that in easily.

I will list my books as I complete them here with links to the reviews.

2011 Challenge: 2011 A to Z challenge

Becky from Becky's Book Reviews is once again hosting the 2011 A to Z Challenge.

Here's how the challenge works, from the A to Z Challenge website:

How does this reading challenge work? Choose the option that works best for you...

Authors -- Read alphabetically by author. Commit to 26 books.
Titles -- Read alphabetically by title. Commit to 26 books.
Authors & Titles -- Commit to reading 52 books

I will be doing the Titles, I think I can handle that and it should be fun to try and find titles with the difficult letters.

I'll list my completed books linked to reviews here.  Want to join the challenge along with me and many others.  Sign up for it here.

2011 Challenge: Reading From My Shelves Project 2011

Diane at Bibliophile By the Sea is once again hosting the Reading From My Shelves Project for 2011.  This is one I really need to take part in as my reading pile has grown by leaps and bounds but my space has not.

Here are the details (from Diane):

  • Challenge runs from January 1 - December 31, 2011.
  • Read books from your own shelves, and then pass the books on to someone else: a friend, relative, the library, used book store, swap them, just as long as the book leaves your house once it has been read.
  • Decide on your goal (12 is the minimum - no maximum). Cross over books are allowed.
  • Grab the button and do a post about the challenge.
  • Keep a running list of the books you've read and passed on.
  •  Leave a comment on this post with a link to your post and you are entered. (
  • Have Fun and GOOD LUCK!

So my goal will be 24 - that's two a month and it will nicely coincide with some of my other challenges. I look forward to reading and completing this challenge.

I'll keep a running list of the books on this post through the year.
