Book Tour, Mini-Review and Giveaway: Dark Deceptions by Dee Davis

 Dark Deceptions by Dee Davis
Publisher: Forever
Publish Date: April 1, 2010
Paperback,  384 pages

My Mini-Review:

Because I wanted to get something up today and start the giveaway, I'm going to do a quick mini-review.  I haven't finished the book yet.  As most of you know, my reading has kind of fizzled since the death of my grandmother, but the mojo is coming back and I think Dark Deceptions is really bringing it back.

From the beginning of this book you are sucked in - the prologue is pretty hot and gives you a feel for Nash and Annie in the past when they were running ops and running from the bad guys together.  But something happened that tore them apart.  Annie had to get out and Nash thinks she left him for dead and turned on him.  But as we readers know, things are not all that they seem.

You jump right into the characters of this book and I have enjoyed getting to know the various members of A-Tac and their unusual setup (a group of college professors) as this story is being setup.  I can tell I will enjoy this book and look forward to finishing it today or tomorrow.  I have read Dee Davis in the past and enjoyed her.  She has great romantic suspense, but from what I have read so far, she has definitely taken it up a notch in Dark Deceptions.

About the Book:
A-Tac is an elite CIA unit masquerading as faculty at an Ivy League college. Brilliant, badass, and seemingly bulletproof, the members of A-Tac are assigned to the riskiest missions and the most elusive targets.

TORN BETWEEN DUTY AND DESIRE
Covert operations expert Nash Brennon has spent the last eight years trying to forget Annie Gallagher, his former field partner and the only woman he ever loved. Annie betrayed him when he needed her most, then vanished without a trace. Now suddenly she's back in the game - this time as a suspected traitor and threat to national security.
Annie's son has been kidnapped by political terrorists. The price for his life? Assassinate a UN ambassador. When Nash and his group find her, the smoldering passion between Annie and the man she swore she'd never contact again blazes out of control. But can Nash trust her? The stakes couldn?t be higher: Their enemy's endgame is personal, and one false move could cost them their lives.

About the Author:
Dee Davis has a BA in Political Science and History, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. During a ten-year career in public relations, she spent three years on the public speaking circuit, did television and radio commercials, and lobbied both the Texas State Legislature and the US Congress. She has won the Booksellers Best, Golden Leaf, Texas Gold and Prism awards, and been nominated for the National Readers Choice Award, the Holt and two RT Reviewers Choice Awards. To date, she has sold eighteen books and three novellas.

Dee has lived in Austria and traveled in Europe extensively. And although she now lives in Manhattan, she still calls Texas home.

Forever Romance is giving away 3 copies of Dark Deceptions to the readers of this blog. Simply comment to enter.  Additional entries for following (rss, email, blogger, networked blogs, etc.), tweeting (1 per day), posting on your blog (sidebar is fine).  Please comment for each entry - it makes the accounting easier.   Giveaway open to US/Canada only, no PO boxes.  Don't worry if you are first or last - I'm starting to randomize all entries before using random.org to draw a number - so it's more like drawing a name out of a hat.  Giveaway runs through April 19, 2010.

FTC Information: I received this book from Anna Balasi at Forever (Hachette books) for review.  I have Amazon links on my review pages but I do not make any money from these because of NC laws.  I put them solely for people to check out the books on a retail site.

Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon

I'm so excited!  It's that time of year again - time for the Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon.  I participated in my first one last October and though I didn't get anywhere near 24-hours in, I really enjoyed it.  Luckily this weekend isn't too busy so I will be joining in again.  All I have on the schedule is my youngest son's first t-ball game at 10:00 on Saturday and I wouldn't miss that for the world.  But I can guarantee before and after the game I will be busy reading away the day.  Hopefully the weather will be pretty and I can either sit on the front porch or lay out in the back yard (I need a tan).

Later this week I'll post my stack I plan on reading.  I'm busy thinking on that now.  But for now this is  my entry post.  Do you want to know more about it?  Do you want to sign up?  Maybe you just want to be a cheerleader? (I love the cheerleaders, they really keep you going).  Well head on over to the Dewey's Read-a-Thon blog and find out more.  There's a FAQ page and there are sign ups up too.  I hope to see you there.

I'll probably be having some giveaways over the weekend, so come on back and check out my posts this weekend and see what I'm giving away.
