2013 Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge

2013 Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge hosted by The Book Vixen

I love romances and I had to join this challenge.  I came in just a little late, meaning after the beginning of the year, when I realized I was on a romance reading roll.  So once again Google was my friend and led me to The Book Vixen who is hosting the 2013 Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge.  Go to the link to get the details, but it's pretty simple read Contemporary romances, meaning they are present-day and don't have any other elements (paranormal, fantasy, time-travel) in them.  Again more details on The Book Vixen's site.  The goal is to read at least 10 books.  I should have that easy.  I'm setting my goal for 25.

2013 New Adult Reading Challenge

I have fallen in love with the New Adult genre in the past couple of months. It all started with Thoughtless, but it may have started with something before that, but I will blame Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens. Then I moved on to Fall from Grace and Saving Grace by Christine Zolendz{swoon}.  I am hooked so I typed "new adult reading challenge" into my google search and I found it.  I am so excited.  It's hosted by Danya at A Tapestry of Words, Victoria from Confessions of a Twenty Something Fiction Writer (she is also a member of the NA Alley blog), Tara from Tater's Tall Tails, and Barbara from Basia's Bookshelf.  Go and check out these wonderful blogs!

Then after you have checked out the blogs, go find out the details and sign up for the challenge here.

I am signing up for the "Living on Your Own" level which is reading 20 or more books.  I think I can handle that and I've already read my first one :)  I'll list my books here and link to my reviews.  If you have any suggestions of great New Adult books to check out, let me know in the comments, I'm always on the lookout for more great books to read!

  1. Saving Grace by Christine Zolendz
  2. The Next Forever by Amy Burstein
  3. Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

2013 Young Adult Reading Challenge

One of my favorite challenges is the Young Adult Reading Challenge.  I have loved YA books for years now and they make up a large part of my reading even though I am way out of the YA age bracket. I blame it on the fact that there weren't a lot of YA books when I was a YA and the books are that good now :)

So I'm in this year, and you can be too, just go to My Overstuffed Bookshelf and sign up and read all the rules.  I won't recount them here.  Mainly it's to read YA books.

I'm signing up for the Mega Size which is reading 50+ YA books, which should be easy to do.  I have that many on my TBR and that doesn't include all the great new ones coming out this year and the wonderful series I still haven't read from the past few years.  I'll list the books as I finish them and plan on linking to the reviews as well.
  1. Mind Games by Kiersten White
  2. Hidden by P.C. Cast
  3. Hysteria by Megan Miranda

Mount TBR Reading Challenge 2013

Ahh... My TBR pile, a point of contention in my house.  Yes it's teetering, yes, it's actually several  piles in several places.  So I do need to conquer it and there's even a challenge for that!  The challenge, hosted by My Reader's Block, is simple, if you had it personally (not from the library) before 2013, it's your TBR pile.  Easy enough?  And who doesn't have a TBR pile?  So I'm joining in.  If you want to, check out the post for more information and to sign up.  Sign ups end Nov. 30, 2013.

My level is Mount Blanc which is 24 books from my TBR pile.  I think that is doable with review books and library books.  We'll see.  I'll list my books as I complete them here with links to reviews as I complete those as well.
  1. Imitation in Death by J.D. Robb
  2. Saving Grace by Christine Zolendz

  7. Because I Am Yours by Beth Kery
  8. Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Book to Movie Challenge 2013

Doing Dewey is hosting the Book to Movie Challenge, which sounds like a fun challenge to me.  I love reading a book and then seeing how they do with the movie. Sometimes they do a good job at interpreting the book, sometimes the interpretation is bad.  So it will be fun to read the books and then watch the movies.  Since I'm a reviewer and I've gone kind of challenge happy,

I'm going light with this one and committing to the Movie Fan level which is read 3 books and watch the corresponding movies.  To find out more about the challenge and sign up for yourself, head on over to Doing Dewey.

I'll list my books I've read here along with my links to my reviews of the books and my thoughts on the movies.

Library Books Reading Challenge 2013

Ahh... the library, one of my favorite places.  And the Library Books Reading Challenge is the perfect challenge for me. There isn't a bar here where everyone knows my name, but our local library branch does and when I walk in they get my stack of reserve books for me before I even make it to the counter. I love them so much!  This is an easy challenge, check out books, read them and post what you read.  Oh and choose a level to read at.  More details and the sign up can be found at Book Dragon's Lair who is hosting this fun challenge.

I plan on joining at the Adult level which is 36 books and I may move up to the Just Insert IV which is 50 books, but we'll have to wait and see.  I'll list my books as I complete them here.  Make sure you check out the challenge and come join the fun!

Sports Romance Reading Challenge 2013

This is fun and new, a Sports Romance Reading Challenge hosted by Herding Cats and Burning Soup.  It's pretty simple, read a number of romances that center on a sports hero or heroine.  I like sports books so it will be fun to incorporate this challenge into my year.  More details and sign ups can be found here.

I will enter at The Tailgater level which is 6 books.  I'll list them here as I finish and link to my reviews.

Romance Reading Challenge 2013

I love romances so I have to join this challenge and it has a prize of a gift card.  Simply read a romance, review it and enter the review link in Mr. Linky for a chance to win.  Of course you need to sign up for the Challenge first and read through all of the details at ...the bookworm... but it sounds like at lot of fun to me!

Here are my five choices for now (and I have the right to change them):

Completed:

  1. Yours at Midnight by Robin Bielman
  2. Chance of a Lifetime by Jodi Thomas

Erotic Literature Reading Challenge

Crazy Dumbsaint of the Mind is hosting an Erotic Literature Reading Challange and what better way to get through some of the great books I have downloaded to my Kindle that to enter this challenge.  To learn more about the challenge go to this post and read about it and sign up.  There will be a button soon to accompany the challenge.

For now I am planning on joining at the Second base level which is 4-7 books, with hopes to maybe get to Third base ;-) (8-11 books).  Come back to cheer  me on and see what I'm reading. I'll keep up with what I've read on this post and link to my reviews.

2013 150+ Challenge

Since I read over 180 books last year (and that was a slow year compared to the two before it), the 150+ reading challenge is a great challenge for me to join.  I am hoping to get back over 200 again, but with kids at two different schools, one in Boy Scouts, one in Cub Scouts and then my work and other family things, I'll shoot for at least 150.  The Challenge is hosted by My Overstuffed Bookshelf and you can sign up and find out more here.

I'll list my books and links to reviews as I go here on this post.  Hope to see you as part of the challenge!

2013 Where Are You Reading Challenge

I haven't participated in this one before, but it looks like a fun one to try.  So I'm going to give it a go, I love to read about different states so trying to read about all 50 should be great.  Here's some of the information from Book Journey:

3rd year running and OH I love this challenge!  As the host of the weekly What Are you reading meme, I find it awesome that I get to host the WHERE Are You Reading Challenge each year.  What is the point of this challenge?  It is to try to read in each of the 50 States between January 1 2013 – December 31, 2013.

How do you decide what state a book is categorized under?

1.  In a fiction read it would be the State or Country that the book spends the most time in.  (Ie. If your main character is from Wisconsin but the book is all about his/her time in college in California – the books should categorize under California….)
2.  Non fiction reads categorize  in whatever State or Country it is about (Ie…. a book about fly fishing in Colorado is a Colorado point, and a book about women in Afghanistan is an Afghanistan point.
3.  If the book goes from one state to another… go with the state that most of the time is spent.

Once you are ready and have your map set up please create a blog post (those who have blogs) using the Challenge picture of the map I provided above as well as link to this post so others may join in.  Then come back and link that post here to Mr Linky (below) so I as well as other participants know that you are participating and we can pop in throughout the year to check out your map and how we are all doing.  I will post a linky at the end of each month so participants can check in with their own post of how they are doing.  I will offer a $10 amazon gift card to one lucky participant who does a check in post at the end of each month and links it.

This is actually a fun and easy challenge as all books you read qualify and it will be fun to see where you generally read books from as well as searching out books to fill in areas that you need.
For those who have covered the 50 states by the end of 2013, they will go into a drawing for a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble or to Amazon.  **  All other areas beyond the 50 states are bonus points and we will have a drawing using random.org for those who read 10 or more books throughout 2013 in that category.

You can see my map I worked on in 2011 here to see what the map looks like and how the pictures link to the reviews.  (If you zoom in you will see the individual areas I read in and clicking on the blue pins will show you what book it was and clicking on the picture will take you to the post!

That’s it!  Here is a link to tips on how to do it.  Any other questions – please leave them in the comments section below.

More information and sign-ups can be found at  Book Journey.
