CF Fundraising Winners

Thank all of you so much for your participation in my CF Fundraising efforts.  I raised $256 total for the team and I believe my Sister-in-law's team (which I was a part of) brought in over $2800 for the event.  This was our first year with her hosting the event on her own, so much was learned, but we brought in a nice amount of money for the CF Foundation and that is awesome!

So since there were actually more prizes than entrants I decided to have a grand prize winner who gets their pick of two of the prizes. And the first and second prize winner also get two of the prizes.

The grand prize winner is:

Tori (Book Faery)
I contacted her and she wanted both of the Amazon.com GC, one from me ($20) and one from author J.P. O'Donnell ($25)

The first place winner receives a set of the Gallagher Books from author J.P. O'Donnell and the choice of 5 books from my giveaway shelf:

Jessy

The winner of a set of Gallagher Books from author J.P. O'Donnell (which includes Fatal Gamble and Deadly Codes) and a set of the 4 Hachette Book titles is:
Bookie

The winners of the sets of the 4 Hachette Book titles (The Unnamed by Joshua Ferris, Corked by Kathryn Borel, Roses by Leila Meacham, and Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith) are:

Aik
Donnas

Thank you all for your donation and tweets that have helped to make my first fundraising attempt a success!

Also thank you very much to the wonderful J.P. O'Donnell for donating 3 of the prizes.

And thank you to Hachette Books for also donating the sets of books.

Last Call for fund-raising and entering giveaways (CF Foundation)

donate to my cause

First - I would like to thank all of you who read my blog and commented from February 21 - April 1.  During that time I was donating $0.05 for each comment left.  I tallied up the comments today and came up with 377 comments for a total of $18.85.  I'm going to round it out and donate $20.  But a huge thanks goes to you for commenting.  I feel loved and CF gets another donation to help find a cure.  So THANK YOU ALL!

I'll post some pics next week of us at the work - so more pics of my adorable nephew and my sweet boys!

The giveaways end tomorrow so please donate if you can and tweet like mad if you can.  I would love to get more donations, but tweets can really help get awareness of this disease out there.

On another note - my son's third grade change drive (3 classes, about 45 students) yielded $76.00!  Wow - it's amazing what kids can do!

We have met our goal but each dollar is important, and there are great giveaways too from a very dear-to-me author (he's very talented and a very nice person) and from a well-known and generous publisher.  Here's what is up for grabs and this is the last post from me on this!

  • Choose 5 books from a list of books (these may be ARCs, recent books and they may be older books but you can have your choice)  (From me) (1 winner - worldwide)  You can see my list here (though it may change - books will be added and some will be given away with other giveaways - this just gives you an idea of what I have)
  • $20 Amazon GC. Giveaway open worldwide.  (From me) (1 winner - worldwide)
  • Two sets of JP O'Donnell's Gallagher series that is reviewed highly here and on Amazon.com - this is a copy of Fatal Gamble and Deadly Codes for two winners (donated by author J.P. O'Donnell, see his web site here) (2 winners - US/Canada)
  • $25 Gift Certificate to Amazon.com (donated by author J.P. O'Donnell, see his web site here) (1 winner - worldwide)
  • 3 sets of 4 books from Hachette Books - includes: The Unnamed by Joshua Farris, Roses by Leila Meacham, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith, and Corked by Kathryn Borel - truly something for everyone. (US/Canada only - 3 winners)

How can you enter?  Giveaway entries will be accepted through 4/24.

  • Individual donations would be very welcome. I'm part of my sister-in-law's team, but have my own donation page here.  For every dollar donated you will get 5 entries into these giveaways, just let me know that you donated in the comments of this post (or email me - crystalfulcher@ec.rr.com), you don't have to say the amount - I can figure that out, and a way to contact you if your email is not available in your profile and I will enter you.
  • Blog about this post for an additional giveaway entry.  Tweeting/Face Book mentions will also get entries - just link up in the comments. 2 entries for each of these, tweeting can be done once per day - just have @cfulcher in the tweet so I see it and can tally it.
  • If you know of anyone that will sponsor or match funds or offer giveaway prizes - I will do all I can to promote them for a donation.  I'm not above using my blog for advertising to help out a child (and lots of children and adults) :)  This is worth 5 entries.

Thanks everyone for your help!

My giveaways:
Weekend Wondering

Thoughts on book -
It's getting really good now - it's just a cute and fun book with a great plot and a strong heroine and the sisters make great secondary characters.

Favorite quote from this hour:
"Of course I had to come," Lady Fotherington purred.  "How could I stay away from such a gathering?  Especially with so many charming gentlemen among your company?"
Well that proved it wasn't me, at least.  I would never say anything so disgusting, no matter how many spells had been placed upon me.

Now onto my fundraising and giveaways:

donate to my cause

Since I may get a few new readers this weekend I wanted to post again about my participation in the Great Strides Walk that my sister-in-law is organizing locally. I am raising money and holding giveaways for participation either by blogging/tweeting or by donating money.  I will also contribute $0.10 for every comment on my blog this weekend (new posts only) and this runs from 8:00AM on Saturday (EDT) to midnight on Sunday.  So come here and talk to me!

The Great Strides Walk is one of the primary fundraising events for the CF Foundation and I am honored to help raise money for them. As I mentioned previously my 5-year-old nephew has CF so I would love if a cure was found in the very near future. But the good thing about the CF Foundation is even though they are looking for a cure, they are also helping to research things that will improve the quality of life of those with CF.

To look at my beautiful nephew (and since he is five I can still call him beautiful) you would never know that anything was wrong with his health.  This is because there are a lot of treatments out there to help him out.  But a cure still needs to be found, because even though there are treatments, there is still a lot of difficulty with this disease.  My nephew for example usually ends up hospitalized 4 hours away from home on average of one week a year when he gets a bad infection.  He's a real trooper about it, but still it would be great if he never had to do that again!

So onto the point.  I'm fundraising and have had JP O'Donnell who is a wonderful author and a great publisher, Hachette join in with my efforts.

First, what are the prizes?

  • Choose 5 books from a list of books (these may be ARCs, recent books and they may be older books but you can have your choice)  (From me) (1 winner - worldwide)  You can see my list here (though it may change - books will be added and some will be given away with other giveaways - this just gives you an idea of what I have)

  • Blog about this post for an additional giveaway entry.  Tweeting/Face Book mentions will also get entries - just link up in the comments. 2 entries for each of these, tweeting can be done once per day - just have @cfulcher in the tweet so I see it and can tally it.

Please help me get the word out about this disease and help the CF Foundation find a cure!

Thanks everyone for your help!

Additional Giveaways to help me raise money for my CF Great Strides Walk

donate to my cause

As I posted several weeks ago - I am walking in a Great Strides Walk that my sister-in-law is organizing locally. The Great Strides Walk is one of the primary fundraising events for the CF Foundation and I am honored to help raise money for them. As I mentioned previously my 5-year-old nephew has CF so I would love if a cure was found in the very near future. So onto the point.  I'm fundraising and have had JP O'Donnell who is a wonderful author and now a great publisher join in with my efforts.  Hachette Books has sent me a wonderful box (see pictures below).  The box has 3 sets of 4 hardcovers in it for me to giveaway (and I am jealous - I want to read all of these).

Can't Do Any of these?  Well you can still help out by commenting here on the blog. For each comment I will donate 5 cents to the CF Foundation. Simply comment on reviews, any of the memes, tours or giveaways and I will donate money. I will tally it up at the end and let everyone know how much you helped me donate.  This is for posts starting 2/21/2010 through April 1st.  It won't count if  you go back and comment on older posts, though I do love the comments, I just need an easy way to keep up with things :)

    Thanks everyone for your help!

More on Fundraising for the CF Foundation and Giveaways

I realized in the earlier post about my fundraising that I didn't offer an alternate to giving money other than my CF Great Strides page.  If you would like to donate and send a check for a smaller amount (I'm not sure if the CF site has a minimum for the credit card donation), please email me at crystalfulcher(at)ec.rr.com and I'll send you my address.  You can make the check out to the CF Foundation and I will turn them in to the local chapter.  This way you know your money goes to the CF Foundation (and I promise CF doesn't stand for Crystal Fulcher :))

Any and all donations are welcome - my sons are doing change drives at their schools and it's amazing how much every penny means.  So please consider contributing either online or mailing in a check.  It's a worthy cause and I would love to see a cure for CF found in my nephews lifetime!

Again there are giveaways going on with the fundraising.  See my original post for information (and a cute picture of my nephew) but the gist is:

    • Donate and earn entries (comment here or the original post to be entered)
    • Tweet, and blog about the fundraising to get entries (comment here or the original post to be entered)
    • Comment on my posts (any posts after 2/21/10) to make a contribution through me to the CF Foundation.  I am giving $0.05 per comment through April 1 to donate to the CF Foundation.
I hope to have more giveaways soon - but so far I have:
    • Choose 5 books from a list of books (these may be ARCs, recent books and they may be older books but you can have your choice)  (From me) (1 winner - worldwide)

If you know of anyone who would love to sponsor this and offer giveaways - please let me know - I can use all the help I can get.  I really want to make a great contribution to the Great Strides walk this year in honor of my nephew and I can do that through your support and help.

As of today - 3/2/10 - My family and I have raised over $200 ($50 came from my son's change drive) and I would love to continue to raise more.  Almost $0.90 of every dollar goes to CF research or helping families with someone with  CF.

Also I plan to soon start up an etsy store with baby items and other sewn items to sale with all monies going to the Great Strides Walk.  So look for that announcement soon.

    Thanks everyone!

Fund-raising and Giveaways: Help my nephew and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

I have seen some other bloggers do things to raise money for charity. I have a Great Strides Walk coming up in April for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. My sister-in-law, Stacey is organizing it and it's a local function but all money goes to the CF foundation (donations go through their home page). I would love to help my SIL out .  My family plans on walking in it, but I would love to donate some money too. This is where my followers/readers come in.

First a little history. My nephew, Hunter (see above) is a beautiful and strong five-year-old who looks very healthy. However he was born with cystic fibrosis. Through research this disease has become more manageable, but a cure really needs to be found so Hunter and others with this disease can live his life to the fullest.

Once upon a time the life expectancy for CF was very short (teens), but through research it has been extended out to the 30s and 40s (which is still way too short). Help Hunter and his family along with the CF foundation find a cure and in the meantime find other treatments to prolong and increase his quality of life.

    How you can help:

    • Individual donations would be very welcome. I'm part of my sister-in-law's team, but have my own donation page here.  For every dollar donated you will get 5 entries into  these giveaways, just let me know that you donated in the comments of this post (you don't have to say the amount - I can figure that out) and a way to contact you if your email is not available in your profile and I will enter you. Here are the current giveaways and I hope to add more as I contact more people:

      • Choose 5 books from a list of books (these may be ARCs, recent books and they may be older books but you can have your choice)  (From me) (1 winner - worldwide)
    • Blog about this post for an additional giveaway entry.  Tweeting/Face Book mentions will also get entries - just link up in the comments.
    • Don't have any spare money at the moment (who does?) then help me by commenting here on the blog. For each comment I will donate 5 cents to the CF Foundation. Simply comment on reviews, any of the memes, tours or giveaways and I will donate money. I will tally it up at the end and let everyone know how much you helped me donate.  This is for posts starting today (2/21/2010) through April 1st.  It won't count if  you go back and comment on older posts, though I do love the comments, I just need an easy way to keep up with things :)
    • If you know of anyone that will sponsor or match funds or offer giveaway prizes - I will do all I can to promote them for a donation.  I'm not above using my blog for advertising to help out a child (and lots of children and adults) :)
The walk is April 24th so I will run this starting now and with this post through April 1st so I can tally up in plenty of time and make the donation.

Thanks for helping out my nephew - his cousins (my boys) adore him and we all do so we want him as healthy as he can be!

In the coming weeks I will post updates and hopefully some more prizes - the more interest this generates the more the message of what the CF Foundation does can get out there.  Until my SIL was told that her son may have CF when he was born, I did not know much about the disease.  I knew there was a telethon and it was "bad" but knew nothing about it.  Since then I have learned a lot but still do not know all I should.  Awareness is a big thing.  Help me spread the awareness and raise money to cure this disease once and for all.

I'm Fundraising - look for big post coming this weekend

Hello all - this weekend I'm unveiling a fundraising post where I am trying to raise money for a CF Foundation walk I will be a part of in April.

In the process I am trying to get offers of donations for giveaways.  So I am calling out to all of you - do you have suggestions of people to approach for offering giveaways as an incentive to donate money, blog about my fund raising, tweet or just comment on my blog.  I will be doing features of the giveaway authors/publicists/publishers and I already have lined a few things up (and will be doing a giveaway myself).  I just want to make this big because it raises money for something near and dear to my heart - my nephew and research for a cure for him.

So if you have done something like this before and have suggestions either comment or email me at crystalfulcher(at)ec.rr.com.  If you haven't done this but have suggestions please do the same.  I'm open to all suggestions.

And lookout on Sunday for the unveiling of my fundraising/giveaway.

Thanks and have a wonderful evening.
