Dewey's Read-A-Thon: The Starting Line

read-a-thon So it's 8am EST which is when the read-a-thon begins in my neck of the woods.  I'm actually at home alone today.  Hubby is hunting and having a hunting club workday.  The kids are at my parents so I plan to read, blog, visit blogs and just enjoy the day.  I'm hosting a mini-challenge between 12pm and 3pm so be sure and come back for that.  I'm not sure how often I'll post updates, but I'll update through the day.

Where are you reading from today?
Home - my favorite chair, my front porch swing and my backyard

3 facts about me …
I have two children
I have not read many classics
My favorite book of all time is It by Stephen King which I read when I was 14.

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
12

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
Read, Blog and have fun.  I hope to read until at least 11pm or midnight, I plan to blog hop about 10-15 minutes per hour after the first hour and then read the remainder of the hour.  I would like to finish up the two unfinished books on my pile and then complete one other.

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?
Simply have fun, don't let the time bog you down, if life gets in the way do what you need to and then read again as soon as you  can.  It's just a lot of fun!

So to start off here are some books I hope to get through.

First finish up:
I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
Sloane Hall by Libby Sternberg

Next up here are some library books I need to get to:

There is always something to read on my Kindle:

Review books for next week:

Some books from my TBR pile I would like to get to:
So there is my pile - it may change through the day and I know I won't get through much of it, but there it is ready for me.

Good luck everyone and have fun.  I'll start visiting blogs at the beginning of the next hour!

I'm starting with Sloane Hall by Libby Sternberg on my Kindle - I'm on page 282/390 and hope to finish this in the first two hours - it's really good.
