My Review:
A great book for boys, I think it would be a great prep for middle school which is always an eye opener for kids.  I know it was for me.  I was running with a group of kids and suddenly when we started middle school we weren't friends any more, no rhyme or reason to it, just like Peter Lee and his best friend Drew face.  So I think this is a great coming of age tale for boys facing this and maybe a book prepping them for this.

I found it to be a very entertaining book.  I loved Peter and Drew's schemes and especially the one to get into detention and to become friends with the guys in detention to become popular.  I love this book, it's cute, it's funny and it's entertaining.  I like Peter, I like Drew.  I enjoy the characters, and I like the storyline.  I enjoy the suspense of who is stealing things at the school (even though I figured it out pretty easy).  The book is well thought out and well executed and I will be sharing it with my son Logan very soon as kind of a prep for middle school as he enters his last ear of elementary school this coming year.  Thank you David Yoo for a great story for boys and girls, but especially for boys!

David Yoo is a graduate from Skidmore College with an MA from the University of Colorado-Boulder. His first novel, Girls For Breakfast (Delacorte) was a Booksense Pick, an NYPL Books For the Teen Age selection, and a Reading Rants Top Ten Books for Teens choice.

His first middle grade novel, The Detention Club (Balzer + Bray) comes out June 21, 2011. His first collection of essays, Honorable Mention (Grand Central) is forthcoming spring 2012. He lives in Massachusetts, where he regularly plays adult soccer and old school video games. He teaches in the MFA program at Pine Manor College and at the Gotham Writers’ Workshop.
