Book Tour: Love Finds You in Victory Heights, Washington

Please join me today on the tour for Love Finds You in Victory Heights, Washington by Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss.  Their latest installment in Summerside's Love Finds You series has just been released. To celebrate the tour, Tricia is giving away 5 Victory Prize Packs during the tour. Take the short jaunt over to her blog and check out the details!

Why I read this:  I read this for the blog tour with LitFuse and because I have read one other book in this series of standalone titles and really enjoyed it.  I was also intrigued by the time frame as it is one I have never read much about.

How is this novel driven:  Character driven all the way.  Learning about Rosalie and Kenny along with the other characters in this book is what makes is very special and an entertaining read.

My Thoughts:
A wonderful book from the first page.  I loved learning about the lives of the women who helped the war effort on the home front.  The WWII era is something I know little about but I am fascinated with so this book was a joy.  Rosalie is a great female character, she's strong, yet feminine and she's determined to serve her country the best she can.  She is also trying to deal with the guilt of her lost love, who she really didn't love in that way while looking at a possible new love.  Kenny is really cute.  I loved his parts of the book, seeing how he deals with trying to figure out where his place is during this war time was great.  I also enjoyed the parts where he and Rosalie were together.

It's a beautiful love story set in a time when national pride was at an all-time high.  However the author pair does not gloss over the whole situation, they show that there were people that weren't so great as well. The shining examples are the main characters who learn through the book about God's will in their lives, both personal and professional.

My Rating: 4.0/5.0

About the book: The war has stolen Rosalie’s fianc√©, Vic, from her forever.  But rather than wallow, Rosalie distracts herself by cramming her days full of activity—mainly by shooting rivets into the B-17 bombers that will destroy the enemy.
When a reporter dubs her “Seattle's Own Rosie the Riveter,” even more responsibility piles up. Her strong arms bear all this, but when intense feelings surface for Kenny, the handsome, kind-hearted, and spiritually unwavering reporter, the fear of losing another love propels Rosalie to leave.
It’s only when Rosalie realizes that God has brought her to this place—and this person—for a reason, the sparkling grace of God compels her to let go of her own strength and lean on His, as well as open her heart to love.
