Book Blogger Hop - August 6-9

Book Blogger Hop

To check out other answers and join the hop go and check out Crazy-For_Books.com for the Mr. Linky for the Blog Hop.

This week's question:
Do you listen to music when you read? If so, what are your favorite reading tunes?

I'll be the first to admit, it use to have to be completely quiet when I read.  Now I can read amidst most distractions.  I listen to my mp3 player with just about anything on it while at the gym to tune out conversations.  I don't put music on at home though just to read.  I prefer the quiet.  If I did pick out specific music to read by it would be soft music, preferably with no lyrics to distract.  Music for yoga or nature sounds is what comes to mind.

I'm currently reading Spells by Aprilynne Pike and hope to get through that, Evermore by Alyson Noel and Firelight by Sophie Jordan this weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi there! I'm here through the hop. Long ago, in my days of college, I thought it was strange that people needed or preferred quiet to read. I'm starting to understand, now. Usually I don't need it, but there are times when yes, quiet really is better. That was a startling discovery for me a few years ago!

I love silence, but lately I've been on a French music kick.

I just became a follower. I'd love to have you stop in my blog, too.

Hi, I am new to your blog from the Hop! Your header is pretty--makes me want to sit down and READ!

I prefer quiet when I'm reading.

Just over from the hop! I'm totally with you on needing quiet to read. I get to distracted with music or anything else in the background

I like silence too. Of course I have 3 young kids so I never get silence but somehow it's easier to block them out than music with lyrics. Maybe I just have more practice blocking out the screaming kids?

Come visit me at 1001 Books

hi from the Hop!

I prefer silence. It's bad enough I have to hear the hombre gaming. I am going to try nature sounds though. :)

Sometimes I need it silent when I read if I'm struggling with a book.

Happy Friday. Come see how I listen to music when I read.

Hey! Found your blog through the hop. Listening to music while I read depends on the book. Sometimes I do if I'm getting bored other times, I don't at all.

I really liked your review of "Clockwork Angel" and can't wait to read that when it comes out!

Now a follower. Stop by my blog when you get a chance: www.booksinthespotlight.blogspot.com

Hopping by to return the visit! That's a smart idea you mentioned--lyricless music is what I should try. Something gentle that won't overwhelm the kids' tv and won't jumble words into my head as I read. :-)

I can read through almost anything too. I can read in a busy DMV, I can read in a loud house but would I put on music while I read? No. I don't have to read in complete silence but I won't go out of my way to bring music onto the reading scene.

Just stopping by through the blog, I'm a new follower and will definitely be back to read your thoughts on the books you're reading.

I read and loved The Summer of Skinny Dipping too. It wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be going into the book but I enjoyed everything about it.

Happy reading and blog hopping!

Hi! I'm a new follower--just stopping by from the hop! As music goes, I'm kind of the opposite--I used to have music playing all the time, but now I prefer quiet.

Hope you're having a great weekend!!!

Happy Book Blogger Hop!

I'm an on-and-off listener of music while reading. I started this habit in my teen years and would frequently listen to Rush while reading.

To this day there are a handful of Rush songs that will trigger strong feelings and memories of Roger Zelazny's The Amber Series.

These days I tend to read quietly more often than not.
