Celebration of the Anniversary of Georgette Heyer's 110th Birthday (Giveaway)

Georgette Heyer, the “Queen of Regency Romance,” is one of the most beloved authors of all time, and Sourcebooks couldn’t be more thrilled to be her North American publishing home: all 52 of her delightful novels are back in print!

Over the years we have come to find that fans of Heyer’s work all have “Heyer moments”—stories about how they discovered her, which novel is their favorite, how they used to sneak and read their mother’s copies, and so on.

Sourcebooks LOVES hearing these stories from fans, and what better time to sing the praises of one of our favorite authors then on the anniversary of her 110th birthday! And what better incentive than with a giveaway.

My story? I love romance, romance is what started me back reading mid-way through college years ago, but I have never read a Georgette Heyer book. I want to and with 52 books to choose from it should be easy to find one that appeals to me.  I think I will start with Cotillion, something about it, the cover (don't those girls look mischievous), the blurb, just catches my fancy and says read me. I have it on my Kindle and plan on reading it before the end of summer.  And I have a feeling after that I will be reading many more.

Giveaway:

Blog readers can participate by commenting why they love Georgette Heyer and their own personal “Heyer moment,” or why those who have never read her novels want to start! I will choose one random winner from the comments who will receive a surprise grab-bag prize pack of 3 different Heyer novels: 1 Romance, 1 Mystery, 1 Historical Fiction (1 winner per blog, US and Canada addresses only).  Prize will be mailed from the publisher.

Also here are some additional notes on sales and events going-on during the month of August to celebrate Georgette Heyer with Sourcebooks:

Thanks for the giveaway! I haven't yet read any of Heyer's books (sad, I know), but I've seen them all over the blogosphere and the historical fiction/mysteries look like books I would enjoy!

Oh my goodness! I LOVE Georgette Heyer! My favorites are Sylvester, Arabella, Devil's Cub, and April Lady. I have even read a few with my husband. I absolutely love that they are clean and humorous. I discovered them when looking for a book recommendation for a clean regency romance. First one I read was Bath Tangle. The closest I have come to a Heyer moment is that I was known on site at the library for checking them out. If I checked out anything that wasn't written by Georgette Heyer they would question me, "What no Georgette Heyer book today?" I own a few of the books already and am always looking at every books store I pass (especially the old ones) for another Georgette Heyer. I want them all!

Heyer is one of my favorite authors. I love her humor and the accuracy of her books. I have enjoyed reading her, since my grandmother loaned me a book, when I was in junior high school. Thanks for the giveaway.

I haven't read a Heyer story in a while but the first one I read was a pleasure. I think it is the characters that I enjoy the most since they are appealing, even the ones who do stupid things.

I discovered Georgette Heyer through these great re-issues that Sourcebooks has been putting out recently. I read my first of her work last year, and I was hooked! Her style really reminds me of Jane Austen-- so classy. I haven't read any of her "modern" books yet, and I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

I have read maybe half of her books, and I like reading her romance books because the books tend to be light hearted and the dialogue is a lot of fun. It is also interesting to see how she will approach the genre in each book.

I've never read any of her novels but I'm told that if I like Victoria Holt and Agatha Christie (which I do), love historical romance (which I do), I'm bound to love Heyer's stories, too. Thanks for the chance to win.

I discovered Georgette Heyer through Sarah Rees Brennan, who wrote a short parody of Cotillion. I loved it enough that I read the novel, which ended up being so much more amusing and fantastic than the parody. After that, I was hooked! She is my go to author anytime I'm in a funk or just need a familiar and lovable read.
