I am also a Lewis & Clark author, and I don't know how many times people have come up to me, with love glowing in their eyes, to talk about Sacagawea and how she guided Lewis & Clark across the continent. The story simply will not die.

Sacagawea was built up into a heroine at a time when women were just coming into their own in the United States, gaining the vote, education, and a public role. It seems she still fills the need women have to look to a strong and intrepid girl who shows the men how it is done.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
